The point is: we need to make a distinction between (the cult of) islam and the persons who say they are muslim. You can find good people who are muslims, but there is no such thing as a good islam. The more a muslim goes his own way (not care about sunna) the better. I find that Christians are the most open about dating outside of their faith. Jews and Muslims tend to stick to their own more often. They tend to call it "racism" when they hear a christian say they don't want to date outside their faith, unless they are black. It shouldn't make a difference but it does. As I am sure you know, there are thousands of ways that this could have happened. I would think that your hypothosis about the heat causing a lack of oxygen is a good one. That combined with the fact that the disperssant BP used zaps oxygen from the water could have definatly caused this.
